The drum course is taught in purpose built studios using electronic kits, but with the emphasis on practical application and working towards playing with a band. The course will give you the skills needed to develop your technique, create your own beats and start playing with a band. Starting with the basics from holding your sticks and snare drum exercises, we will work through drum rudiments (sticking patterns) and how to use them, beats and fills, using different time signatures, playing different styles of music and even creating a drum solo.
You will also gain insights into the role of the drummer within a band and how to work with writers and other musicians. There will also be tips on set ups, gigging, recording, drum tuning and how to get work as a drummer. By the end of the course you will have a good grounding to start playing. with bands of any type, and the ability to help yourself improve
